Swallow's Nest - TapRoot Farmstay

Posted on

Hello everyone!

What an absolutely gorgeous day spring day, you can feel that summer is just around the corner!

I just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself to everyone, some of you know me and some will be meeting me for the first time.

My Name is Jennifer Alexander, I joined the Taproot team a bit earlier this year in the role of Coordinator looking after the bookings the farm stay, the Swallow's Nest, and coordinating all aspects of the booking for the Farm and for you the guests. I join the team with 20 years of experience as an event planner with several large hotel chains in Toronto, Calgary and finally back home in Nova Scotia. Last Summer I decided that it was time to leave the hotel business and spend more time with my 2 young girls Kayleigh (9) and Abigail (5). When Patricia approached me in January about looking after the Swallow's Nest I jumped at the opportunity as I love the Swallow's Nest and this meant I would still be at home with the girls and still have my finger in the business of helping people book their vacations, getaways, meetings and special events. My connection to Taproot Farms is quite simple, it is a family connection Josh is my baby brother and the opportunity to work with them and the farm was also something that means a lot to me!

I thought I would give everyone a little information about the farm stay for those who have not yet seen it or had the opportunity to enjoy our little piece of heaven!

Like a cottage or cabin rental a farm stay is a wonderful getaway from urban living.

During your entire stay at Swallow's Nest you’ll enjoy the nearness of Taproot Farms’ organic orchards, fields and animals. You can watch the daily routine of a working family farm.

But don’t worry, there’ll be no nagging chores, you’ll be on a relaxing vacation!

The ample room at Swallow’s Nest makes it an ideal location to share with friends and family.

We also welcome friendly, well mannered four-legged members of the family. Choosing Swallow's Nest for your vacation means there's no need for any separation anxiety for you, your kids or your pet

Our farmstay is especially suited for families with young children.

Josh and Patricia have three children of their own who can help your kids make a strong and lasting connection between food, farms and fun.

If they like, visiting children will be able to collect eggs, visit the pigs or piglets, and take walks through the orchard and trails with Frank, Lily or Izaak (who are now 5, 7 and 11-years old!

We can also arrange a trip to harvest corn or another crop. Then your family can enjoy this "just picked" food for lunch or supper. Now, that’s fresh and knowing where food comes from. Adults too may discover a farm activity to enjoy.

There’s nothing like the taste of an egg when you’ve brought it straight from the hen to the pot, or a salad for supper when you’ve chosen your own greens!
