Kick Starting a Social Justice and Environment Documentary Series for The Valley

There are many informative, thought-provoking films that never make it to local theatres. We'd like to change that, and go one step further by engaging the audience in meaningful discussions about what we can do to help address the issues raised in these films. In doing so, we hope to provoke new thinking and local action about creating a more just, sustainable, caring society.

Our goal is to crowd fund support for each screening to cover costs.  This will allow us to offer the screening free day of for those who could not contribute otherwise.  It also lets us establish interest before hand, and eliminate financial risk.  Getting screening rights, renting the venue (the Al Whittle Theatre) and a small promotional budget can cost around $1000 per event.

Our first screening is of The Accidental Anarchist

"One man’s remarkable journey: from diplomat to anarchist. British diplomat Carne Ross worked on Iraq and its WMD, and resigned from the government over its lies before the 2003 invasion. His extraordinary personal and political odyssey culminates in a remarkable encounter with new forms of democracy in the midst of war – in Rojava, Syria. A profound examination of the political and economic problems that confront the world."

To support this event, please consider sharing our crowd sourcing campaign and / or making a contribution.
