Don't throw out those carrots tops!

Patricia made sauteed carrot tops to go with their lunch today.

A little oil in the pan, wash, chop and throw the tops in the pan with the cover on.

They were enjoyed as a side dish with lunch.

We also had a member that said that carrot top pesto is great.

The carrots are being harvested the morning of the shares, so other than growing your own carrots, these can't get any fresher :)

Carrot Top Pesto

2 cups carrots tops

1/3 cup toasted nuts

2 large garlic cloves

Salt and pepper

2/3 cup Olive oil

1/2 cup Parmesan cheese

Join us at TapRoot Farms at noon. The Bishop/Oulton family will host a tour of their rural paradise, where you can see nature gently being guided by the knowing hand of Josh Oulton to produce the food we should be eating.

Chef Michael Howell prepares a meal with ingredients gathered on the farm with a nod to cooking seasonally. You are greeted by the family upon arrival and graze upon your appetizer  during your walk about the farm. Finally join us at the harvest table in the field  for a spectacular lunch of salads, vegetables, the pork, and dessert prepared by Michael paying homage to TapRoot's Jamaican employees for a taste of home.  Steve and Richard work with Michael to help prepare an authentic Jamaican Jerk Pork Roast for you to enjoy.

Tickets are now available for the THREE Jamaican Jerk Pig Roasts this summer.
