TapRoot Farms CSA Week 41

Good Evening CSA Members.

~We are thinking of all of our members this week and we are sending special thoughts of love, peacefulness and healing to those who especially need it right around now~

I have just realized that if I wait one more minute to send out this newsletter some of you will have your veggies or fruit eaten all up. A lots is happening these days at TapRoot. Nathan and Justine have taken over the reigns of the meat share. This provides Jocelyn more time to focus on packing and sorting and tracking of veggies and it keeps the meat share and animal production under one roof, literally:)) (Justine and Nathan and married with little Gilbert)

For the past two weeks you may have noticed a new face at deliveries. Ed has joined us and will be doing deliveries. The schedule will be shifting in April and the demands of deliveries is more than a one person required role on the farm. Also, you may have noticed, no Jem this week. Jem is away on holidays with his family for a few weeks.

Very exciting news:

Today the Non-GMO feed arrived on the farm, mixed and ready to feed out. It has been over one year: connecting, growing, harvesting, funding, drying, processing, mixing and now it is here on the farm feeding the animals. Today was the day, January 22, 2015. This is a really major accomplishment. Thanks for all of your support. For those who supported this effort via the Non-GMO campaign you will hear from us very soon:)))

Tell us how it is. Survey Time:

If you are Looking forward to another year with TapRoot could you please complete this survey as soon as possible?

If your time with TapRoot has come to an end and you find yourself saying "I am not renewing my CSA in 2015" could you please complete this survey?

These two surveys will provide us with very useful information. We really appreciate you taking a minute to complete them!

Ideas from Denise:

Our recipes this week have a bit of a French connection. Maybe it's because Paris in the springtime is beckoning, or maybe just because it's such a great season for warm, flavorful, comfort food. Who knows? But this week's recipes will have your taste buds singing. Put some Madeleine Peyroux on the stereo and escape to Paris for an evening. :)

You've probably cooked rabbit in stew or enjoyed it simmered in red wine, but check out this delicious recipe for Rabbit in Mustard Sauce.

Garlic-Rubbed Roasted Cabbage "Steaks"? Heck, yes!

I love pea shoots. Love, love, love them! I love them in salads and stir fries and fresh, on sandwiches. But this weekend I tried them with this Pea Risotto. It was fabulous. Try it. You'll be glad you did. :)

This recipe for Roasted Fingerling Potatoes and Brussels Sprouts with Rosemary and Garlic would pair beautifully with the rabbit above. What am I talking about? It would pair beautifully with anything.

Steamed Leeks with Mustard-Shallot Vinaigrette. Again with the mustard? Trust me; you'll love it.
