Happy Summer Everyone!
As you know (hopefully know...or if you don't know here is a heads up) This Thursday June 27th will be the last delivery of the Winter/Spring CSA. It has been an absolute privilege for us to be able to pieces of our farm with you and your families over these past 24 weeks.
For some of you this was your first time as a CSA member, and while others have been with us for the entirety of this 10 year CSA journey. We have always believed that growing organically is the most just way of producing food for all, and being surrounded by and supported by you folks allows us to continue to do just that. Our winter/spring CSA was a fun 24 week process. Together we shared the excitement of "what the heck will be do with all of this cabbage" to a full on spinach diest and then onto rhubarb and mixed greens. All the while strengthening our cooking skills and local food lore as we go. We realise the CSA lifestyle can be an adjustment to say the least. It has definitely increased my skill set in the kitchen, and my ability to share my new found food knowledge with those around me, and I hope it has done the same for you!
This spring was definitely one for the books! The cold and wet start has still got us a little behind on production. We are definitely experiencing the effects of a changing climate. More extreme rainfalls and shift in temperatures are playing a large role in how we are able to grow, eat and share our food. So your support means just that much more, as it helps us continue to do what we love during these tricky farming times. But never fear!...Moving our way into summer we are seeing lots of greens, pink and oranges starting to poke out of the ground, a little colour is always a positive site to see.
Lots of you have signed up for the Summer/Fall CSA and we look forward to feeding you through these summer months. For those of you who we won't see again until our next CSA season, we look forward to the next time we meet, and we are excited by your excitement around local food!
The largest warmest thank you!
PS. If you are continuing on with the Summer/Fall CSA your pick up days are as follows as they will no longer be on Thursdays. I will be sending out specifics for each location in the coming days. And yes St. Peters folks we will be delivering on Canada Day (July 1st) :)
