CSA - Week 3
What's in your share this week? - taprootfarms.ca/shares
FYI - While making shares this morning, I noticed that the share, while looking great, do look a little smaller than our previous week.
It is the correct value, just more compact items in comparison to kale and cabbage that fill up the box more.
Shallots are a lot like onions, but more mild and sweet with a slight garlic-y taste. You can pretty much use them in place of onions, but they also lend themselves really well to being used raw in salad dressings.
I wrote about a quick lentil soup that makes a frequent appearance at our house. It's super versatile and seems to be well enjoyed by my family. It's on our blog - http://taprootfarms.ca/blog/post/Sunday-Soup. It would work great with the celeriac (in small cubes is my favorite), kohlrabi, sweet potato and brussels sprouts from your share this week.
The starting of a cabbage salad. Such pretty colours!
This year, as many of you know, we decided to only do one size vegetable share for the winter. This was in response to many members who were finding the large amount of winter vegetables to be too much, but still wanted the larger amount in the summer. We made this change, and at the same time made more vegetables available on add on's for those who feel they need more than the $16 of vegetables each week, and wanted more choice.
If you haven't been on add on's yet you will need your username and password that you made when you signed up. If you can't remember either, get in touch - email@example.com - and I can reset them for you. Add on's are available to add to your delivery until 24 hours before your pick up.
If there is something you are looking for and don't see it on the list, let us know and we will see if we can source it for you.
