News from the farm:
The CSA team takes a holiday - December 20 - January 3rd. Shares resuming January 4, 2015 (see the blog post below about other important dates)
This year we have invested in a heating system to keep the greenhouse and squash storage buildings hot (warm) in Canard. It needs to be installed (wood doctor) and is on the work plan for December. We are wanting to get kale brought in from the field in tubs and put in to the greenhouse in hopes of it growing throughout the winter for a harvest all winter. We have a planting of kale that is small enough that this would be easy. Hopefully we are able to pull it off.
Josh and Nathan are heading to the Ethical Meat seminar on Monday and Tuesday for the day.
The pictures are of Emma's 5th birthday party on the farm. I just love seeing the kids explore and enjoy the farm!

Leek, fennel, apple and walnut soup. It couldn't be more perfect for this weeks share.
We made this one pan meal last night, it was super easy. You layer potatoes, then onions, butter, then chicken, garlic and herbs. I used my cast iron pan instead of a baking dish and it made the bottom potatoes super golden and crunchy.
For me a meal isn't finished in the fall/winter without some sort of cabbage-y or carrot slaw. This one looks great, but it does note that the dressing is very light so you may want to double the recipe.
