Week 49 TapRoot Farms CSA Newsletter

Hello, it's really and truly MARCH!!

Really, today is March 4th (MARCH FORTH!), meaning that there are only 4 weeks remaining in the current CSA, including this one.  Aaannd, there are only 11 days left to register, so please tell your friends and confirm that you have registered (if you are registered for the new season of shares, you should have received a welcome email from me yesterday).

March means seeding time!  So, we will plan to fill you in on all the things we are starting in the greenhouse this month.  It began Saturday with Tim R seeding Megaton Leeks (see the photo on the right).

MAPLE SYRUP BUY: This is a special bulk buy opportunity for Hutchinson's 2L Maple Syrup.

It's Maple Syrup time!!

We hope that by including members in the ordering we will be able to reach the minimum order of $1000 (40 bottles needed total) and pass along the savings to you also.  These 2L bottles retail for $35.00 at the Wolfville Farmer's Market, and if we can get 40 members to buy together we are able to offer them at $26.00!

If we do not get enough orders in the first week, we will leave the ordering open for an additional week, but would prefer to get all the orders by March 7th (Product arriving the week following and will ship out March 17 - 22).

Please order this as an add-on by selecting how many you would like (and be aware that this add-on will come with your shares on a future week (likely March 17-22), NOT immediately like other add ons.)

Any questions please email teri@taprootfarms.ca, thanks!

Some new add ons

A couple things to share...

Volunteer Opportunity (shared by a member)

Charles P Allen High School students are looking to start a school food garden and we need community help!  Our vision for this project is a school/community-combined project which benefits our students and community simultaneously.  We will require garden keepers for the summer months and would like to make sure harvested vegetables get to local tables in our community.  Upon returning to school in September the yield and care of the garden would be handed back to the students and staff to allow students the opportunity to see the fruits of their hard work. We are ready to learn and eager to grow!

If you are interested in getting involved or providing support of any kind, please contact Lauren Emanuel, Learning Centre Teacher, Charles P Allen High School at:  lemanuel@hrsb.ca. We will be setting up a summer garden volunteer schedule based on the responses that we receive.
